ABOUT US
Kennet Valley Gundog Training Society was set up in 1967 'to foster the working ability of retriever gundogs by holding training classes and thereby to enable owners who lack the experience or facilities for training their dogs to carry this out. Further, 'to hold retriever working tests with a view to promoting the development of working ability by competitive methods'.
'We have remained true to our roots ever since; running regular training sessions and holding retriever working tests (see Events' and also 'Results' for full details).
The subscription rate for each member in the early days was a pound, and those paying two pounds for the first year were designated 'Founding Members'. Members' wives' subscriptions were ten shillings, and gamekeepers, kennel maids and juniors paid 5 shillings. That is 25 pence for those of you too young to remember!
